Spring Fling with Cotton Twill

“Spring is a lovely reminder of how beautiful change can be”

~ Unknown ~

Hello, my fellow creatives happy Spring! Yes, the weather is changing the color palette is brighter and I for one am truly feeling all the beauty that’s springing up everywhere.  There’s something about Spring that makes me feel lighter and happier.  I mean you can’t help but smile and feel good as the heaviness of fall/winter colors are slowly fading to the background.

The last maker list of fabrics was awesome, and I was truly inspired by the various options we received. This list was full of vibrant hues that had my creative juices racing with excitement.  I believe I jotted down at least ten different options with this Cotton Twill at the very top of my list.   I was immediately drawn to this fabric and hoped I wasn’t too late to score a piece for my maker project!  When this beauty arrived Let me just say it was everything, I hoped it would be and then some.

I decided to use a tried-and-true Simplicity pattern (S8554) that most wouldn’t even consider pairing with this fabric.   I’ve used this pattern before with a stretch cotton sateen so I knew this twill wouldn’t be a problem.  While I did use some of the design options from the pattern, I decided to forgo others like the belt, the loops and sleeve tie options.  Honestly, after trying it on with my favorite pair of ripped boyfriend jeans I loved the way it looked and decided to roll with it as is.  While this pattern doesn’t come with a lining option this fabric is too fabulous to simply serge and walk away.  I chose to finish the seams with blue & black bias binding for a nice clean finish.  Overall, this fabric was amazing to work with and the quality is out of this world! Trust me this one is a keeper and if you can score a piece for yourself, I definitely recommend that you do.  Until next time sewing loves happy Spring Sewing!

Hugs & Love
